“Baby Mikey” McCully is the recipient of this year’s Annual Rock for Life Benefit Concert, now in its ninth year. Baby Mikey, of McIntyre, PA, was born three months premature on February 8 of this year due to a condition known as Periocardial Effusion, an abnormal accumulation of fluid around the heart. The very next day Baby Mikey underwent heart surgery to correct the problem, and with only a 25% chance of success, he is currently undergoing regular treatments to make sure he comes out of this medical condition on the winning end.

This year, The Landlord will be hosting a benefit for the Leechburg Fire Department. The owner of the PA Rock Show studio has decided to "Deck the Halls" of the studio for the 2008 holiday season. Anyone who’s passed the studio during Christmas knows the place is covered with lights for the holidays.
I know what you’re thinking, "Christmas already! It’s September for goodness sakes!!!" Ok, so it’s a little early, but stay with me here. The difference is that we will be increasing the number of lights in our display to 20,000. Also, the lights will be synchronized to selection of popular Christmas songs. For the first year, these lights will be computer controlled.
"What does all this me to me," you say? Here’s your chance to be heard! Since this is the very first year for the musically sequenced show, I thought it would be great to use some of the talent found right here in our own AK Valley. So, the PA Rock Show and the AK Music Scene will be holding a contest. We are looking for the best local Christmas songs in the Valley!
Here are the contest requirements
It must be Christmas centric and FAMILY ORIENTED.
Songs may be vocal, acapella, or completely instrumental.
It may be an original song or a traditional carol.
In length, it must be around 3 ½ minutes or shorter.
The style should be Up Beat / fast-paced but will consider all music that is entered
Entries should be made from bands in the Western PA area.
Send as many entries as you like.
Entries will be considered until October 10, 2008
The winner will be announced on-the-air at the end of the October 17 PA Rock Show
Entries should be sent to the host of the PA Rock Show at bill@parockshow.com
The winner will be selected by the Landlord.
What will the winner receive? Well, your song will be added to the Christmas light show at the PA Rock Show Studio and synchronized to the lights. The winning band’s name will be announced during the light show. These songs will be played starting on Thanksgiving Day and running through New Years Eve. The show will run every 20-25 minutes. It will run from 6 pm till 10 pm each night. Your band will be heard around 20-25 times each evening and more on the weekends.
This is your chance to have one of YOUR SONG broadcasted over 875 times to a captive audience. This display could attract hundreds of cars each day. Not to mention the potential media attention drawn by the display. Good luck and I hope to have a lot of entries to choose from.
